Originally from Rotorua, Tommy's passion for architecture began on the tools after starting a building apprenticeship in 2013. As he learnt more about how homes came together, his interest grew beyond construction to the entire journey, from concept through to completion. Following a back injury in 2019, he took the opportunity to return to study and turn that passion into a career in architecture.

Tommy loves being part of creating homes where people will build their lives, make memories, and spend time with the people who matter most. His design taste leans towards clean modernism... although he'd happily take a classic state house if one came up in today's market.

One of our favourite Tommy stories? Before architecture, he spent three months in Washington DC trying his hand at door-to-door roofing sales. Unfortunately, his Kiwi accent proved more interesting than the roofs, with most conversations ending in "Where are you from?" rather than a signed contract. Tommy also made the bold decision to walk away from a lucrative underground mining job in Australia to pursue a building apprenticeship after the Christchurch earthquakes, a move that ultimately set him on the path to architecture.

Being closer to family was a big reason for making the move to Mount Maunganui, and after persistently letting Adam know he was keen to join the studio, the timing finally aligned. We're stoked to have Tommy on board and can already see the impact he's having on our projects, our team, and our clients.
