We’re thrilled to share that Adam Taylor of ATA (formerly Adam Taylor Architecture) has received two prestigious National Design Awards at the 2025 ADNZ Conference for our project, Rhythm & Greens.
This inspiring home was honored with the National Award for Residential Alterations and Additions and the National Award for Home Interiors, celebrating ATA’s passion for innovative New Zealand architecture, creative design thinking, and beautiful, sustainable living spaces.

NATIONAL AWARD FOR RESIDENTIAL ALTERATIONS AND ADDITIONS
The judges said: Rhythm & Greens is a beautifully measured architectural intervention that transforms a conventional dwelling into an experience of light, rhythm, and calm. Every gesture—from the carefully composed windows to the subtle transitions in scale—serves to enhance the spatial flow and elevate the everyday. The design treads lightly, preserving the essence of the original while offering new clarity through refined detail and material warmth. This is a home that resonates with quiet sophistication.

NATIONAL AWARD FOR HOME INTERIORS
The judges said: Rhythm & Greens is a highly crafted and stylistically coherent interior that reinterprets 1970s design language with freshness and vitality. Punches of colour and floating cabinetry elements lend visual lightness, while thoughtful joinery and finishes respectfully echo the era of the original build. The design cleverly balances nostalgia with modern liveability, drawing on the home’s architectural backstory to create a richly atmospheric environment. The palette, detailing, and spatial choreography all contribute to an interior that feels grounded in its time while offering a renewed and elevated expression of it.

Receiving these ADNZ National Design Awards is an incredible acknowledgment of the talent, vision, and dedication of the ATA team, led by Adam Taylor. We’re deeply grateful for this recognition and proud to continue creating award-winning architecture that blends design excellence with heartfelt craftsmanship.
